What’s in a name? If person says they are a “doctor” does that mean they actually have a medical degree or a just a PhD? Context can’t always argue the right decision, and sometimes you have to actually ask, “Are you a ‘doctor’ doctor or just a ‘doctor of philosophy?’”
My brother used to play this song for me after which a bonus section would play — the band being The Swirlies and the song being Wrong Tube from the album Blonder Tongue Audio Baton — their discography is freely downloadable from their site – about how interesting it would be if it turned out that the cure to extremely distressing diseases and cancer came from seemingly bizarre combinations, like twigs from the Brazillian rainforest mixed with Mountain Dew. I have been a life long advocate of more natural remedies, stemming from the fact that my mother subscribed to Prevention magazine as long as I could remember and we were always taken to homeopathic and natural doctors in addition to the more traditional doctors — both were consulted before decisions were made.
Early Friday morning, David and I journeyed into Manhattan from our home in Jersey City to get our 24″ Apple Cinema Display repaired under our AppleCare warranty. The car service cost us $80 for a 20 minute ride that felt like we were on a bucking bronco, but made it we did. We were so early for our 9:15am Genius Bar appointment that we had to wait outside the 14th Street Apple Store for it to open.
We took turns holding the heavy Cinema Display, and since it was the morning after Steve Jobs’ death, we were surprised to see the impromptu memorials to him from Apple fans that were plastered on the store windows and decorating the ground around the entrances. I pulled out my broken, but still trusty, iPhone 3G — yes, we successfully ordered two Verizon iPhone 4s on Friday before we went to the store — and took a few pictures of the way people memorialized Steve Jobs.
There were lots of flowers and partially eaten apples. Candles, too. Some thank you cards were visible and lots of newspapers and handwritten thanks we piled up. It was really touching. Lots of people were taking pictures of these totems of sorrow. The time for feeling sad was done. Now was the time for others, like me, to record the heartbreak of what happened the night before.

It has been six months since devastating earthquakes rocked Japan and set off a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant that could take up to one hundred years to fully correct. It is amazing how much the nation has recovered in that very short time period — that link has many beautiful then and now photographs which show immense improvement.
I am a massive fan of lucid dreaming. I set up scenarios and places to visit each night before I go to bed and I am often able to extend my reality into these lucid dream containers:
I have always dreamt in color while most people dream only in black and white. It is difficult for me to explain the vivid color of my dreams to those who are unable to comprehend the power of real color. Black and white provides history and distance while color is always hyper-real and blurs the line between the dream and awake states.
Who owns the URLs you submit to Twitter? You? Or the Bird? I vote we should own our own URLs without having interference from the t.co Twitter link shortener unless we explicitly want it, and here’s why. We use Bit.ly to shorten all Boles Blogs Network links we send to Twitter and Facebook using our proprietary Boles.co URL. Yesterday, in the sidebar of our network blogs, the t.co link began to appear even though we were submitting the boles.co shortened URL to Twitter.
