Mrs. Meyer’s Baby Clean Day Hair and Body Shampoo Review

In the Davidescu household we have long been fans of the Mrs. Meyer’s brand of cleaning supplies thanks to our roommate Chad. We have kept our dishes sparkling clean with her dish soap, our counter tops clean with the counter top cleaning spray, and our clothing clean with the laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets that are completely biodegradable. When we knew it wouldn’t be long before our now three month old son Chaim was born, we started looking into the Hair and Body Shampoo made by the same company to see if it would be a good fit with our needs and it seemed that it would be.

We are happy to report that it has exceeded our needs and expectations in every way conceivable. The primary role of a baby shampoo and body wash is to clean your baby and make him or her smell good. After a good rub down with Mrs. Meyer’s, Chaim smells fantastic.

The product is fairly economical, and can be found in select pharmacies and through web sites like Soap.com and Amazon.com, naturally. Please note that for the purpose of this review, we fully paid our own way and bought our own bottle to use — we were not given anything in exchange for this review and it is completely based on our own experiences with it.

It only takes a tiny amount of shampoo — perhaps the amount that could be described as a dime sized portion (referring to the United States currency for any international readers — it is a little smaller than an adult thumb print.) With this small amount, your whole baby’s body can be cleaned and so even though the eight ounces might seem pricey at about ten dollars, it lasts and lasts and lasts.

It is worth mentioning the ingredients, for they include nothing but the best in this product. The best of it is olive oil, honeysuckle extract, aloe juice, orange oil, and geranium oil. What you will not find in the bottle are any harsh chemicals that may be harmful if swallowed. How do we know this to be so?

True story — one bath time, Chaim accidentally swallowed a little of the soap and was quite unhappy — most babies are when they have soap in their mouth. We got most of it out of his mouth but our first concern was his safety and so we looked on the bottle for safety warnings pertaining to what to do if the baby were to swallow the shampoo accidentally — as most washing products meant for children have some sort of warning and cautionary measures. We found that Mrs. Meyer’s had no such warning — meaning that it is not a threat if swallowed. Obviously not something that should be intentionally swallowed — those bubbles aren’t comfortable for babies!
